Audrey M. Brocklehurst

Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, on September 12th, 1954, the daughter of the late Walter D. and Irene Dorothy Brocklehurst. Audrey has connections to P.E.I., her grandmother Annie McNally was born and reared in Egmont Bay. Sister has many cousins on the Island. She says frequently that she is back to her "roots" here on the Island.

Audrey received her formal education in Sydney schools, graduating from Holy Angels High School in 1972. She studied for one year at St. F.X. Junior College and then studied at the Cape Breton Business College and graduated in 1974. In 1975 Audrey began her 18 year broadcasting career in Sydney with CJCB /K-94 Fm Radio Station. She worked there for 16 years. She also worked as morning host on ATV on the program Atlantic AM. She worked for a summer at CBC television as co host of Cape Breton Report, anchoring the news and weather. After CBC, Audrey worked at 950 CHER radio as Morning Host and Program Director for two years.

In 1994 She began her journey with the Sisters of St.Martha of P.E.I. and in 1995 she entered the Novitiate. In 1997 after making her First Profession, Sister Audrey went to work as Pastoral Assistant @ Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Stratford P.E.I. One of her main focuses was youth ministry and she organized a youth choir, and put on many youth retreats. In 2000, Audrey went to work as Pastoral Assistant @ St. Pius X Parish in Charlottetown. Besides her duties as Pastoral Assistant, she was also Director of Catechetics in the Parish.

In 2001, Sister Audrey made her final profession with the Sisters of St. Martha. Sister Audrey has received a certificate in Youth Ministry Studies from St. F.X. University and the Canadian Ministry Support Services, has completed A CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education Course) which she took at the Nova Scotia Corrections Facility in Dartmouth and is now studying for a Diploma in Ministry from St. F.X. University.

Sister Audrey arrived to work as Pastoral Associate (with Father Phil Callaghan) in St. Mary's of the People part of the John Paul II Pastoral Unit, in September 2005. Besides St. Mary's of the People, she also works in North and South Rustico and Hope River. She is chair of the Unit Pastoral Council and sits on the local liturgy and pastoral councils in the Unit.

Sister Audrey also directs the Pastoral Unit Youth Choir comprised of youth and adults from the Pastoral Unit. Their name is "Stained Glass". Sister is always looking for new members. Sister Audrey also is a member of the P.E. I. Chaplaincy and Corrections Committee in Charlottetown and serves on various committees in her congregation.
