Father Nazaire Gallant was born on June 12,1927 in Abram's Village, the son of Thomas Gallant and Lucie Anne Arsenault. He was baptized and confirmed in the Church of St. Philipe et St. Jacques, Baie Egmont and frquented the local schools up to and including grade 10. He furthered his studies at Le Petit Seminaire at St. Therese, Quebec, and completed his courses in theology at the Seminaire St.- Cleur de Marie in Halifax. Father Gallant was ordained at St. Dunstan's Basilica on April 3, 1954 by Bishop James Boyle of Charlottetown. He was appointed to the parish in 1967 and stayed with us until 1978 when he was appointed to Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road. Father Gallant passed away in September 2000.
